Bastoners de Sant Cugat del Valles

Stick Dance ("El Ball de Bastons") is considered an inheritance from the old warrior dances played with swords or other arms.

It has been and it is very spread all over Catalonia, and it is without no doubt the oldest dance from the ones that are still danced.

The history of the "Bastoners de Sant Cugat" has gone through different stages. The first group that we have a reference from, and that we have evidence of according to our pennant, dates from the 1923.

The actual group of "Bastoners de Sant Cugat", was initiated in 1990, and we have three groups of Bastoners, from different ages, from 5 years on.

The Stick Dance ("Ball de Bastons") is to be danced in the street, and that is why the performances can be adapted to any kind of acts, which can have a popular or business environment, such as:

• Typical party of the town ("Festes Majors")
• Conventions Inaugurations Dances around the streets of town ("Cercaviles")
• Performances indoors ("Envelat")
• Cavalcades
• etc.

The rehearsals of the different groups on "Bastoners", take place in the building of LA UNIÓ SANTCUGATENCA, which is located in Carrer de J. Anselm Clavè nº 17. Telephone: 93.675.20.57 within these times:

Older

Thursdays from 21:00 h. to 22:00 h.

Medium

Fridays from 19:30 h. to 20:30 h.

Younger

Fridays from 19:00 h. to 20:00 h.
